Hakuba came back with the bowl of popcorn to find Aoko and Kuroba comfortably stretched out on the couch talking.
And a dove sitting on Kuroba's head.
Neither Kuroba or Aoko appeared to find this disturbing in any way shape or form, and in fact appeared to be casually conversing with the bird as if this were a normal scenario.
Perhaps it was to them it was a common situation. It was always hard to tell with Kuroba.
"You are aware that there is a dove making its roost on your head." He deadpanned, sitting the popcorn on the table in front of them. Aoko scooted over, pulling Kuroba along so that he was sitting in the middle of the couch, giving Hakuba a strange look as she did so. He wasn't quite sure if placing Kuroba between the two of them was for her own protection or as an attempt to make the two males get along better.
"Yup." The bird fluttered slightly as Kuroba familiarly shifted to where Aoko pulled him. "Shiraha, meet Hakuba." There was a definite smirk in the tone.
White Feather meet White Horse. Cute.
"A pleasure to meet you." He said polite to the bird. The bird gave him a quiet look from a dark eye and then settled down on Kuroba's head as if it were a queen nestling into her favourite throne.
Kuroba laughed. "Shiraha's a movie junkie." he explained casually. "She says that she's a fan of John Cleese as well, but refuses to say what movie she saw him in."
Aoko was keeping a straight face. Kuroba was keeping a straight face. Hakuba could feel his eyebrow tick. "He is in several excellent movies." he said neutrally, trying to think of a way to change the subject before this got really weird. "Popcorn?" He held the bowl up for them to take some.
Shiraha looked down at the bowl, then at Kuroba and made a noise that sounded supciously like disdain as she fluttered from the top of Kuroba's head to Hakuba's shoulder.
"I think you've made a new friend." Aoko grinned, helping herself to some of the popcorn.
Kuroba glared at the bird. "Traitor." Shiraha pointedly ignored him, her claws digging into his shirt material a bit as she crouched down and made herself comfortable.
Hakuba paused, not quite sure how to deal with this. He was used to hawks, Watson, whose shows of affection were nips, not cuddles. It took a moment of mental reminding that Shiraha was not Watson, and was not going to scratch him. Heck, the dove was smaller than Watson, and a lot lighter too. Unless she took to pecking at his eyes, there was not much she could do to him.
He made a conscious effort to relax and sit back against the couch. "She is not." he finally said primly. "There is nothing wrong with aligning yourself with the side with the greater brain power."
Kuroba's look quiet look of astonishment was perfect. Hakuba hit the play button on the dvd remote with great satisfaction.
