Hey Mister!

"Hey mister!" A cheerful voice interrupted Inuyasha's nap. He opened one eye. A toddler with pale blonde hair looked at him with wide blue eyes completely devoid of fear. She was dressed in strange clothes that seemed more appropriate for Kagome's time than his as she grinned.

"I'm not a 'mister'. I'm a big mean youkai." He growled sourly.

She continued to smile at him, undeterred. "What'cha doing?" She inquired.

He sighed. "I'm taking a nap."

"Why?"

"To pass the time as I wait for the silly twit to finish her bath so we can continue to find the Shikon shards." He explained.

"Why?"

Inuyasha raised an eyebrow. "That is what we do."

"Why?" She asked again.

He frowned at her. "Because."

The small toddler appeared to give serious thought to this for a moment. Then she grinned again. "Okay!" She cheered. "I luv you! Bye-byie!"

With that, she waved at him and skipped off into the forest.

Inuyasha watched her go, feeling faintly puzzled.

A second later, a large brown panicking dog ran up and sniffed the ground where the toddler had been standing.

"She went that way." Inuyasha dead panned, pointing toward the where the girl had gone. The dog shook his hand gratefully, then ran off after the girl.

Inuyasha stared at his hand in mild surprise, then in the direction the two had gone. A second later, the sound of a large body hitting a tree at a high speed, followed by a yelp and a high pitched giggled echoed out.

He looked at his hand once more, shrugged, and settled back against the tree to continue his nap.
