Conan Movie 14: The Lost Ship in the Sky Summary ♦ ♣ ♥ ♠ Okay.
Until now, Magician in the Silver Sky had been my favorite movie.
Anything that has Conan and Kid working together gets top marks in my
book.
This topped it.
Movie starts with a shot of an odd building.
Interior shot shows a scientist being held hostage by guys in
military get-up and gasmasks. Scientist opens the door for the guys,
who then thank him by knocking him out. Next shot shows the terrorist
group (it`s obvious that`s what they are by their get-up and the short
summary on the official page) looking at a whole bunch of little tubes.
Then the place explodes. (Okay, not the whole building, but the wing they were in.)
Next scene shows a Metro Police meeting about the terrorist group.
Why did they attack? What is their motive? And a whole bunch of other
difficult words because this is the police we`re talking about.
Suddenly, everyones` phones start ringing, including the guy
heading the meeting. Someone in the seats stands up, saying that a
notice from the terrorists has appeared on the net...And the head guy
says he knows. After all, it just showed up on his own phone.
They`re known as the `Akai Shamu Neko` or `Red Shamu Cats`. And
no, I do not know what `shamu` means. It was written in katakana.
Next scene is Heiji watching tv, on the phone with his boyfriend
*cough* I mean friend Conan. Both are watching the news about the
explosion and looking at the newspaper with it on the front page.
Then Heiji (and next Conan) turn to the middle page; a wonderful
2-page spread with Uncle Jirokichi calling Kid out to attempt to steal
his jewel on a zeppelin.
Of course, the next shot is Jirokichi balling the newspaper up in
anger because he was supposed to be on the front page dammit how could
they think a terrorism group blowing up a building was more important
than this it`s not fair.
Conan thinks Jirokichi is predictable. Heiji agrees.
Cue opening credits and show intro. I wonder how many more times
we`re gonna see Kudo whacked on the head, drugged, and shrunk. Probably
every movie. And maybe every special. And the occasional episode. It
will never end.
Poor Kudo.
Scene cuts to a giant blimp in the sky, and the Shounen Tantei
`ooh`ing and `ah`ing at how high they are. Tropical Land is so small!
And Mouri is afraid of heights. Horribly so. But he`s doing well.
I mean, sitting at a desk sweating bullets and trying not to have a panic attack is good, right?
The random extras make their appearance.
Some guy who has something to do with piloting or whatnot (can`t read that fast, can`t remember the word they used).
A television director.
His cameraman (with a video camera).
And assistant. Kasumi. (one of the only names that stuck).
Director introduces himself to Mouri. Mouri comments on the lack of equiptment. I mean, the cameraman has a video camera.
A normal one you can buy in a store. There isn`t even any sound
equiptment. Director mentions that the terrorism explosion took all of
their resources, and everyone would rather report on that than the
Suzuki Blimp.
Cut to a scene of two waitresses/stewardesses chatting. One of
them wants a smoking break, so she goes into the smoking room, relaxing
on the couch.
Under the couch...Is an empty tube with the Red Cats logo on it. Uh-oh.
Pilot guy comes up and says some things that scare the kids.
Something about dying, too. I didn`t really understand this part. It
was filled with a lot of ontomonopeia which I don`t get. Ran scolds the
man and he laughs it off, ready to light up a cigarette. One of the
male waiters/stewards tells him he can only smoke in the designated
smoking area. Pilot guy leaves.
Conan remenisces about when Ran first saw a blimp, and how she
thought it was a UFO. And how cute she was when she came up to little
Shinichi all panicky.
Ai makes some romantic speech about how romantic it is for a woman
to fly in the sky. It`s a rather long speech. Conan and the Professor
are stunned. Probably wondering who this girl was and where Haibara
went to.
She passes it off as a joke just so they don`t die of a heart attack. I`m not so sure she was joking but whatever.
Jirokichi invites them up to see the jewel.
Sonoko then starts cooing over Kid-sama, and hopes he can get up
to the blimp because she`d love for him to steal her and oh, Ran, don`t
tell Makoto. Ran is amused.
They leave, but not before Conan asks the Professor to not tell Ran about the UFO-thing.
Pan to a guy in a waiter outfit casually leaning against the wall
and who seems to have Kuroba`s messy hair. Oh, and a bandage on his
arm. This is important, kids, remember it.
The Director has himself a smoke in the smoking room. Actually,
some of these events might be a little out of order, but as long as I
report them before the story really starts moving, it`s all good.
Time to go up the elevator!
Mouri freaks out more because he can actually see out and how far up they`re going because the elevator is glass on all sides. He starts giggling hysterically. Poor guy.
He hugs the wall as soon as they`re on the top floor.
While going up, there`s some information given about the blimp.
Mitsuhiko comments that it`s like a whale. And you can see the helium
sacs keeping the blimp aloft.
Top floor has a glass roof, which is pretty neat. And oh, where
they`re holding the jewel? Nakamori-keibu! How we have missed you!
He doesn`t want to let the kids through, but Jirokichi all but shoves him aside to show off the gem.
Sky Lady, a beautiful lapis lazuli ring that does indeed look like
a starry sky, as the kids put it. And there seems to be the profile of
a woman`s head, hence the name Sky Lady.
Mouri is not impressed with the security. And to prove he`s not impressed, he sets his hand down on the number pad.
Which promptly opens up a panel in the front which houses a boxing glove which punches Mouri back about 20 feet.
Angry, Mouri storms up to wreak horrible detective vengance.
And is tasered by a sensor on the nearby pillar.
Jirokichi points out that the number pad only responds to him (I
still have no idea how the tasers work, as Mouri was the only one
electrocuted). Nakamori asks `what if a guy had a gun pressed against
him?` and mimics a gun with his hand, pressing against Jirokichi`s neck.
Our favorite Uncle responds by typing a quick code into the
keypad, which opens a tile in the checkerboard floor, which Nakamori
falls into. The tile closes over him.
Quick discussion on how this works before a disgruntled Nakamori is released.
Conan quickly breaks the code. Star-horizontal-vertical. It`s
really not that hard of a code, and a lot like how one labels a
chessboard, except using numbers instead of letters.
Suddenly, Jirokichi gets a phonecall. Some guy says he let a
disease (they use the word bacteria in the movie, not virus) loose on
the ship and makes some more demands. Jirokichi accuses him of pulling
a prank. The guy tells them to look in the smoking room for evidence
and hangs up. Jirokichi nods to Nakamori, and they pretty much disband
the group to go check it out.
They find the vial with the Red Cats logo on it. Double Uh-oh.
Definitely not a prank. They call the Metro Police chief to let them
know. Some more dialogue goes on, and people are still wondering about
a motive.
Onto Ran and Sonoko in the bathroom!
Sonoko aks Ran for a bandage, which leaves Ran confused, because
Sonoko doesn`t look injured. She pulls one out anyways and freaks.
On the bandage, written in tiny letters, it says `Shinichi <3
love.` Sonoko admires her grafitti work, since she apparently did it to
all of Ran`s bandages without her noticing. Go Sonoko.
Ran freaks out more because she gave one of the bandages to a
waiter/steward. He had apparently gotten hurt keeping Ayumi from
falling hard on the metal staircase during boarding. Said steward
(calling him a steward, even though it`s a waiter outfit) is Kaito. He
has glasses, but he`s not even trying to hide his appearance. Ran
thinks he`s Shinichi for maybe a second before discounting it and
sticking the bandage on.
Ran returns to look at the jewel and notices a steward staring at
it. She asks him what he`s doing up here, and he replies something like
`rounds` or whatever. Ah, I lament my lack of knowledge of the Japanese
language. The steward has short, somewhat messy brown hair and
freckles. No glasses. He makes to leave, but Ran grabs his arm,
noticing a bandage on it. She demands to know about the bandage, and he
gives some unclear statement about injuring it in the kitchen or
something. Ran doesn`t believe him.
After all, the bandage has `Shinichi <3 love` written on it.
Told you it was important.
Ran now has the Kaitou Kid in an armlock and knows he`s the Kid.
Kid is freaking out because he`s been caught way too early by an
amateur mistake by RAN. Who would karate-punch-and-kick his ass to Hell
and back if he tried to escape. Which he visualizes. It`s rather
amusing.
Ah, but there is a reason he`s been hiding his identity. After
all...He pulls off the random steward mask to reveal...Kudo Shinichi!
Ran is stunned, dropping her guard enough to let Kid face her, but
she still has a grip on his arm. Kid says that his real identity is
Shinichi.
Meanwhile, back in one of the cabins, Conan sneezes violently, his
playing cards going all over the place. The Shounen Tantei are amused.
Ah, but Ran doesn`t fully believe that Kid is Shinichi is Kid. She
wants proof. Otherwise she`ll hand the thief over to Nakamori. And
speak of the Devil, Nakamori and his cronies - I mean guards - suddenly
come off the elevator to reposition themself in front of the jewel.
Ran cheerfully waves to them, and they head over. Kid has his version
of a panic-attack.
Then calmly mentions that the first time Ran saw a blimp, she thought it was a UFO.
Ran is baffled. Only Shinichi would know such a thing (or someone
who eavesdropped on Conan, but like anyone would know that). Nakamori
comes up and asks what`s wrong, and Ran runs off towing `Shinichi`
behind her, saying that everything`s fine.
All those times he`s been saying that he was out on a case...he`s
been stealing? are her thoughts. They have a little talk in the hallway
and Kid leaves, donning his random-steward outfit and bringing
random-steward`s voice back. Ran just watches him leave, not knowing
what to think.
Then, her arms are grabbed! Twist out of the grip and defensive
karate stance...And it was just pilot-guy trying to prank her. He
mentions that he knows who she is, and her many karate medals. He
leaves laughing.
Down the stairs and around the corner, Kid watches, looking slightly worried and protective.
Down in the kitchen area, the smoking waitress from earlier seems
to have developed a rash on her upper arms which she keeps itching. Her
coworker shows concern, but she passes it off and resumes taking
drinking glasses down.
In the dining area, Mouri`s getting drunk (like usual), Ran is
embarrassed of her father (also like usual), and the Shounen Tantei (Ai
and Conan excluded) are planning mischief (which isn`t too usual, but
happens often enough). Agasa wonders what the kids are doing, and they
make up some hasty excuse about being excited to go back into their
rooms to play cards. Pfft, yeah right. But Agasa accepts it. Conan
doesn`t bother doing anything, although he knows something`s up.
Kid-the-steward serves everyone cake, and as Sonoko prattles on
about something, Ran just watches him. Sonoko catches her and wonders
if such a comely look is really Ran`s type, and wouldn`t her husband be
ashamed that she`s cheating on him? Ran stutters. Sonoko starts waxing
poetic about Kid-sama again and mentions how she`d love to kiss him
and...
Ran stands up shouting `NO!` startling everyone. Ran then attempts
to explain that it`s because Kid`s a criminal, and you can just go
around being friendly with criminals. Everyone accepts that and goes
back to their dessert. Conan is looking at Ran, blushing slightly, and
Haibara makes a sort of comment which snaps him out of it.
Nakamori and his gang are down here, too, and want to stuff their
faces full so they can quickly get back to their boring job of guarding.
Amazingly enough, the kids finish first and run out. Smoking
waitress accidentally sneezes on Genta as they leave, and he scolds
her, telling her to always cover her sneezes. She apologizes and they
leave happily.
There`s a sudden scream and orange-haired stewardess, the smoking
stewardess` friend, is backing away from pilot-guy, who is covered in
rashes. Face, neck, arms. He`s yelling something about it hurting and
not wanting to die and tries to grab the girl, who runs away. Nakamori
attempts to calm the guy down without endangering the rest of the crew
i.e. spread the disease. Conan`s ready to dart the guy, but Ran
steps in front of him and punches the guy in the stomach, knocking him
out. She hands him over to Nakamori, who tells his men to put him in
the infirmary.
Nakamori then tells everyone else that there`s a disease loose in
the blimp and if anyone else has any symptoms. Smoking stewardess tries
to melt into the wall, but stays silent. As they`re about to leave the
topic, she cries out and falls over, unconscious. They take her to the
infirmary, too.
Mouri...is passed out drunk.
Conan has an epiphany. The stewardess has a rash. The stewardess
sneezed on Genta. Genta`s in danger! Oh noes! He lets the others know
and runs off to find the Shounen Tantei.
Said Tantei are walking on a catwalk in the belly of the blimp.
Genta comments that it`s like being in a whale`s stomach, and Mitsuhiko
corrects him by saying that in this position, they`re more around the
whale`s small intestine or some other inner organ. As Conan runs up
panicking, Mitsuhiko says that they`ve changed organs (but still aren`t
in the stomach).
Conan is worried, but Genta feels fine. Conan gets even more
worried when they mention that Genta poked his head inside the smoking
room, but it smelled too much like smoke, so he didn`t go in.
They`re about to head back, when they hear someone else in there
with them! They hide, and Conan uses his awesome glasses to zoom in on
the person sneaking around. They have a hoodie, so you can`t even see
their hair, but it`s not like that matters at this point. They watch as
the mysterious person unlocks a latch at the top of the blimp and
leave. Conan realizes just what happened, and the group runs, trying to
get up to lock it again...too late. A helicopter is heard outside, and
we see the same armoured guys from earlier jump off a helicopter with
the Red Cats logo, open the latch, and climb in.
Conan has the Shounen Tantei hide and they watch as the group
splits up, then meets back up. Who looks to be the leader takes his
helmet off and mutters something into a walkietalkie. Of course, like
Conan, we`re too far away to hear the words. Then they leave.
The Red Cats march down the hallway and into the dining room, guns
up, ordering everyone to stand still. Lupin makes a gallant effort at
looking threatening, and cameraman inches his way towards the video
camera. Leader shoots the camera apart and tells
Jirokichi to assemble everyone in the dining hall. The Shounen Tantei hear that from where they are, but don`t move.
After everyone`s assembled, the leader tells everyone to give up
their cell phones. Ai, looking wonderfully like a scared little girl,
hides behind Agasa saying she doesn`t have a phone. Then, out of sight
of the others, proceeds to contact Conan on the Shounen Tantei badge.
Mouri is still asleep, despite Ran trying to wake him up.
Red Cat leader forces Nakamori to call the Police to let them know
what`s going on, but says that he`ll blow the blimp up if a cop
helicopter gets near it. Jirokichi also identifies the leader, saying
something about something that happened 15 years ago and that`s why the
Red Cats hate Suzuki Zaibatsu and are doing this.
Ai lets Conan know what`s going on, and they have a brief
discussion about what to do. Conan then enlists the Shounen Tantei`s
help in finding four bombs spread throughout the blimp, but tells them
to not, under any circumstances, touch them.
Kudo, what the hell are you doing to these kids?
As they find the bombs, Conan notices they`re simple bombs, and slices the wires apart so they go offline.
Back in the dining room, assistant Kasumi wonders where the other
kids are. Agasa mutters `traitor` and the search is on for the Shounen
Tantei!
Ai attempts to warn Conan, but is bitchslapped, hard enough to go
flying, by orange-haired stewardess. Turns out she`s with the Cats!
Their cover is blown!
It seems that Conan was oblivious to all this commotion, however.
He finally manages to cut the wires of the bomb, which was almost out
of reach for poor little shrunken detective. As he goes to find the
others...Oh, looks like they`ve been captured. Wonderful.
Leader looks on disapprovingly at Conan and the pile of destroyed
bombs at his feet. The rest of the Shounen Tantei cower. Conan glares.
Cat Leader likes his eyes.
Then picks Conan up by the scruff of his neck and throws him out a window.
Yes, we are still on a blimp flying hundreds of feet above the ocean.
HE THREW HIM OUT A WINDOW.
INSTANT panic. Ran`s about ready to jump after him, Sonoko`s
holding her back...And disguised Kid slides up and nosedives out the
window. Ran whispers `Shinichi!` after him and Sonoko looks confused,
but apparently lets it go. There is no other mention of this slip
anywhere else in the movie.
Kid has some trouble catching up to Conan, but after some swimming
through air (which I know doesn`t really work, but hey, it`s anime),
grabs him and they glide away down to a nearby island.
Everyone above is shocked that Kid had been right there next to them, but all are glad that Conan`s gonna be okay.
Conan wants to go back to the blimp, but Kid replies that his hanglider does not have a jet pack, thank-you, and there is no way they can catch up now.
So they land on the island, Kid`s hanglider instantly snapping back into a cape, and they wonder about what to do now...
Scene changes to Heiji in a tower, waiting. Kazuha shows up...with a kid in tow.
Apparently, the tower is the Five Ring Suzuki Tower (or something) and is supposed to be where the blimp docks.
The kid is Satoshi, and...I have no idea why he`s there with Kazuha. Maybe she`s just babysitting.
Satoshi asks if Heiji is Kazuha`s boyfriend, and they deny it. A lot.
Satoshi finds this denial acceptable, and wonders if Kazuha will marry him.
After some confused blinking, Heiji tells him to go right ahead.
Kazuha looks mad, but tells Satoshi that he`s too young, and if he
still likes her when he`s 18, then they can get married.
Satoshi looks disappointed, but accepts it.
He then calls Heiji Heiji-ojiisan. PFFT.
Heiji gets a call from, surprise surprise, Kudo! He greets
enthusiastically! Then remembers Kazuha`s there and says Conan`s name
instead. Too late, Heiji. Oh well.
Conan lets Heiji know the situation. Heiji freaks out in public,
before finding a quieter place to freak out. They discuss the situation
more, and Heiji likens it to a 3-layered okonomiyaki. No, I don`t
understand it either. He hangs up, and Kazuha says sure, they can all
go out for dinner tomorrow! Heiji is confused, and Kazuha asks `weren`t
you talking about eating okonomiyaki tomorrow?` Heiji sighs.
Conan also did not mention Kid, even though Kid was adding
comments to the conversation, so Conan could tell Heiji more of what
was going on. Huh.
Kid was also making friends with a goat, who decided that Kid would make a good something to lick. Conan ignored that.
Kid and Conan are still trying to figure out how to get off the island when they see a police helicopter fly by! Ooh, idea.
Conan, using Shinichi`s voice, calls Megure to ask for a lift for
one Kudo Shinichi. Kid is confused. Megure is also confused, but
happily sends out a ride.
While waiting for a ride, Kid asks `What are we gonna do about the pick-up? Aren`t you Kudo Shinichi?` Some more dialogue goes on before it seems like Kid finally gets it.
So Takagi and Satou pick up one High School Detective Kudo
Shinichi and Edogawa Conan. They seem to be confused about the Conan
part. And why Kid has Shinichi`s high school uniform on his person I`ll
never know.
As they near the blimp, Kid asks about the speed of the
helicopter. He`s answered truthfully, though with some hesitation. Why
would he want to know that?
And why are both Kudo and Conan sticking their hands out the window?
And oh my god, they just jumped out the window.
Yep. Kid grabbed Conan, chirped a `see ya!` and opened the heli door and jumped out.
And turned into Kid with the hanglider on the way down.
Satou wonders if Kudo is really Kid.
They touch down but apparently the wonderful snapping that
happened on the beach does not happen on the blimp, and the wind
catches the hanglider, pushing Kid and Conan back. Conan demands to
know why the hanglider isn`t going down, and Kid replies that the
control button is on his belt and he kind of can`t reach it with a kid
in his arms (though he could before. Ah, plotholes). Conan starts
searching for the button. Conan accidentally tickles Kid. Kid is
failing at trying not to laugh, but the hanglider still isn`t going
down.
Conan searches some more. I`m really not going to ask what sort of
grin that was, other than it seemed slightly lecherous, was full of
blushing, and followed the phrase `no not there.`
...Conan, stop feeling up the thief. Especially when you have the
body of a 7-year-old. (actually, they might have said earlier in the
movie that Conan was 10 now, but that couldn`t be true else Ran would
be 20 and out of high school).
The wind gets to be too strong and the two start tumbling back.
Satou and Takagi watch horrified, but Conan manages to find the thief`s
grappling gun and uses it to latch onto a rope. Yay, they`re secured!
Except now the helicopter is getting shot at so the police leave
to let the thief and little boy save a blimp from bio-terrorists.
I guess it`s true that you just don`t ask about Conan-kun.
The two split up, but not before Kid tells Conan that his girl had
been grabbed and is probably infected now, so they should hurry. He
also gives Conan Jirokichi`s fingerprint, which he got off a soccerball
that Uncle touched. After all, it might come in handy. Then he just
relaxes against the blimp and seems to go to sleep. Conan runs off to
find the bombs and is disappointed that they`re not in the same spots
as before.
Back in the dining room, TV Director starts panicking because omg, I`ve got a rash too I`m gonna die don`t let me die!
Heartless Cats knock him out and take him away. I don`t know if
they said here, but you find out later that he was put into the smoking
room.
Oh, and since a blimp that was taken over by bioterrorists is
going to be flying over Osaka, there is mass panic. The city is being
evacuated. I`m surprised they didn`t show anyone die in the stampede,
though that little girl looked close to biting it. But hey, this is a
kids` show, so they probably wouldn`t show something like that. It`s
not interesting like murder. Although the likelihood that people died
here is quite high. Especially with the way the station attendants were
shoving people onto the shinkansen.
Heiji, Kazuha, and Satoshi are just standing on the side of the road, calmly watching everyone panic.
Something is mentioned about Security and Nara, and I have no idea
why Nara was mentioned (maybe the blimp was flying over it now? Makes
sense if it`s going from Tokyo to Osaka. Nara is on the way), but Heiji
is off to Nara!
...Oh, and Satoshi wants to go to since he`s apparently from Nara
and knows the streets. And there`s no way in hell that Kazuha`s being
left behind.
Satoshi asks about Conan and Kazuha tells him that Conan`s about
Satoshi`s age and probably in the same grade and they should probably
get together sometime because kids should be around kids or something.
I`m pretty sure Kazuha`s only thinking this part.
Ah, if only she knew...
Satoshi also asks something about a boy liking a girl, and wants to know what it is when two boys-
Heiji cuts him off and they leave.
PFFT I love this kid.
I forget if it`s now or if it was slightly earlier, but Jirokichi
is taken to the top deck and told to retrieve Sky Lady. Jirokichi`s
about to put the code in to seal the Leader up, but Cat Leader tells
him not to try anything funny. Jirokichi retrieves the lapis lazuli for
Cat Leader, a bit disgruntled.
After finding only two bombs, Kid reappears, telling Conan he
found something interesting and should come look. Conan follows the
thief back outside, wanting to know what`s going on, when he notices a
cloud of gas streaming from the blimp. Some discussion is had about the
smoke and Conan goes back inside.
Since the blimp is heading toward Nara spewing smoke, Security has
to evacuate the monks, too. The monks are worried about the temples,
but Security worriedly shoves them in and speeds off, not wanting to
get sick.
Nara has now been evacuated.
Ran notices she has a rash now, and calmly follows one of the Cats
to the smoking room. Director panics when the door is unlocked, trying
to get out. He`s thrown back in, and Ran is rudely thrown in as well.
Conan watches from the sidelines (his room probably, since it has his
skateboard in it), wanting to help but biding his time. When the Cat
has left, Conan leaves and...stares at the door handle. Something is
said and it seems like he`s figured it out. And something about the
disease, the rash, and door handles.
A thump is heard from above the dining room, and Cat Leader tells
someone to go investigate. He finds Conan`s unconscious body and rolls
the boy over.
Oh, looks like Conan wasn`t unconscious after all. Cat B (I think that was his designation) gets darted.
Thump.
Cat Leader doesn`t look too pleased. He tells Cat A to to investigate. Cat A goes to find Cat B out and is worried!
Until Cat B murmers a bit and what, he`s asleep? And something is dangling next to his head so he should grab it, right?
Oh, turns out the dangling thing was Conan`s special suspenders
used in the previous movie and Cat A goes flying up! And then he gets
real smart (sarcasm; note it) and lets go.
Thump.
Cat Leader is pissed. I forget what happened to let Cat Leader
know it was Conan doing this, if he knew at all; if it was Cat B who
told him before he went `thump` or if it was Cat C (I forget if that
was his actual designation or not, but he`s getting called that in this
review) who went up there and saw Conan.
Whichever it was, all the Cats get orders to shoot to kill and
there`s this wonderful little chase scene with Conan and Cat C. Cat C
is shooting at him and Conan does some skateboard stunts to dodge all
the bullets. Cat C is stunned and miffed. Conan uses his suspenders,
which he placed by the ladder earlier, to carry himself up, leaving Cat
C to climb the stairs. Conan eventually leaves him in the dust.
Which is probably a good thing, since there`s another Cat (I shall
call this one D) coming down the elevator shooting at him. Conan barely
manages to dodge this one, and Cat D gets angry that he didn`t kill the
boy on the first run and has to wait until the elevator stops at the
floor so he can go back up. But when he hits the floor, he shouts out
to the others what`s going on before heading back up.
Oh, and Mouri finally wakes up.
On the top floor with Sky Lady (well, not anymore, but same area),
Conan hides next to the pedestal. Cat D comes up looking for him and-
Aha! There he is! He jumps onto the platform to get to Conan...Who
smiles evilly as he counts the squares and traps Cat D in the floor.
Silly Kitty.
Conan relaxes, peeling the sticker with Jirokichi`s fingerprint off his thumb, musing at its handiness.
Cat E agrees as he pushes his gun into Conan`s back. Conan`s
forced to drop the thumbprint as Cat E comes around the front of the
area. He tells Conan to put his hands in the air, as the detective`s
only got them half-raised. `Like this?` Conan asks, raising them higher.
`Yes, like tha-`
Oh, without the correct thumbprint, the boxing glove appears. Cat E is knocked flat.
But Cat C is back with a vengence, having been forced to climb all
the way back down so he could actually get at the elevator which would
lead him to the top floor. Apparently bioterrorists don`t like
exercise. Who knew? He shoots at Conan and chases him around for a bit.
And just when Conan is about to reach the elevator, he stops, turns
around, and shouts `AH?!` while pointing at a spot just behind and
above Cat C.
Cat C, of course, looks.
Oh look, it`s the sensor.
Hello taser.
Cat C is down for the count.
Kaitou Kid decides to drop in at this point, wondering what
exactly all of this was. Huh, seems like he`d been watching the whole
fight. Conan just tells him it was Jirokichi`s security system, and the
two of them chat for a bit.
But not for long, since the elevator door opens and Cat Leader is
there, shooting rounds at both of them. They both manage to dodge
splendidly, and Conan inflates his soccer ball and kicks it at Cat
Leader, knocking him out.
Conan then cheerfully informs the rest of the Cats that their leader has been captured and that they should just surrender now.
The Cat that was left with the dining room group panics, before getting tackled by Nakamori and Lupin. Go, doggy!
Orange-haired stewardess Cat sees the gun go skittering across the hall and rushes over to see what the problem is.
Only to get judo-tossed and knocked out by Mouri.
I`m wondering if he wasn`t really awake the whole time, biding his time for an opportunity like this.
Well, all of the Cats are taken care of, Jirokichi has his Sky Lady back, and everything seems to be going well.
A group of policemen are seen taking some large wrapped thing from
one of the temples. Heiji, backed by Kazuha and Satoshi, says `Oh, so
that`s what`s going on,` and proceeds to explain that the `policemen`
are also Red Cats, using the threat of bioterrorism to cause panic so
the temples won`t be inhabited when they steal the priceless treasures.
The Red Cats aren`t bio-terrorists at all, but petty thieves.
Since they`ve been caught, one of the Police Cats sneers asking what three kids are going to do.
Heiji and Kazuha have an amusing discussion where they feign
obliviousness. And then end it by saying `Did you really think it was
just us three?`
And the entire area lights up and look! It`s the Chief of the Nara
Police force! And no crummy thieves are gonna be stealing in his town!
Conan walks into the smoking room, scaring Ran. She tells him he shouldn`t be in here because he`ll get sick and-
Conan cuts her off and explains. It wasn`t a real disease. Most
likely they sprayed the room with something that caused itching and a
rash and just stuck the empty tube underneath to cause a panic. That it
only appeared on people`s hands, where Ran was grabbed on her arms, and
now on her legs where she was sitting against the seat, was the proof.
There was never any bio terrorism. Most likely the lab explosion was
the only bio terrorism attack. Or something like that. My translation
skills fail me once again.
`But wait,` Conan thinks. If it was all fake, why did those two
collapse? And why did pilot-guy have the rash all over his body? No, it
couldn`t be...
Ignoring Ran and the others, Conan rushes out to the infirmary. He opens the door to find...
Smoking stewardess bound and gagged and the other bed empty.
Scene cut to Tokyo Metro Police Station, where Megure is talking
about the Red Cats and their identities. They have photos of all of the
Cats there, including orange-haired stewardess in Red Cats uniform.
And...
Megure throws down a picture of their leader.
You guessed it. Pilot-guy.
Conan runs up to the top of the blimp and sees pilot-guy standing
there. Conan labels him as the Red Cats` Big Boss and some more talking
happens which, again, I can`t quite translate. Apparently he wants to
blow the blimp up on Osaka bridge, which everyone is using to evacuate
now. Ooh, devious. Some more untranslateable talking and he shoots
Conan. In the head.
Either Conan is lucky, dodged well, or Big Boss just wanted to
torture the boy, the shot just clipped him on the side. But still sent
him sprawling and yeah, he`s bleeding a lot now. Head wounds tend to do
that.
Some more talking and another shot, this time to the shoulder. Ow. Yeah, Big Boss is probably torturing him.
Down below, there`s some more commotion. Someone fires a gun and,
oh look, Kasumi the assistant is a Cat, too. Mouri is about to take her
down when cameraman levels his gun at him. Is everyone a frikkin` Cat on this ship?
The two end up tying the rest of the passengers and crew to the
railing with rope. And now that everyone`s tied up...That`s where the
missing two bombs have gone to.
They set them up on the wall, waiting for Big Boss` signal.
Cat Leader and the other Cats are about ready to help them out,
until Kasumi says that since they`ve been caught, there`s no use
keeping them alive. They can die on the blimp. And then I`m assuming
she ties them up, too.
Meanwhile, Conan`s landed on one of the hatches of the blimp! And he gets an idea...
Just as Big Boss is about to land a finishing blow, Conan does
some quick maneuvering and blows his soccerball up to epic proportions
just as they pass under the bridge.
Two things I don`t like about this scene: one, the soccer ball is HUGE. I mean HUGE. I will get to how HUGE it is in a moment.
Second: he used the soccer ball earlier, and he had mentioned in a
previous movie/episode that he could only use the soccerball once.
Alright, so, the soccerball is growing under the blimp. Conan has
it attached to the blimp somehow, and the ball is growing so large, it
presses up against the underside of the bridge and changes the blimp`s course. At the last second, Conan releases the ball, letting it blow away in the wind as the blimp careens skyward.
Well, I`m pretty sure the Cats inside are envious of those they
tied up. Since they crashed into a wall and were knocked unconscious.
Up on the top of the blimp, Big Boss loses his footing and falls into the ocean. Conan uses his suspenders to keep his balance.
The blimp seems to be going haywire, nearly vertical. Then, the
emergency pilot kicks in and the blimp levels out at a nice, peaceful
pace.
Conan then calls Heiji, telling him to tell the police that Big
Boss is in the ocean. Heiji, being a good boy, repeats that, using
Kudo`s name of course.
And where is Heiji? Why, in a helicopter with Satou and Takagi, giving chase to the blimp, of course!
After Heiji hangs up, Satou asks him if that was really Kudo on the phone, and Heiji hesitantly replies in the affirmative.
After a few moments of contemplative silence...
Satou: Heiji...Is Kudo-kun...the Kaitou Kid?
Heiji: *blink blink* .....Ha?! Inside, Kasumi and cameraman have been knocked out against the
wall, and Kid appears, calmly taking the Sky Lady from cameraman`s bag
and stuffing it in his pocket. He then slowly wanders around the group,
untying a starry-eyed Ran and leaving an equally starry-eyed Sonoko. He
says some things here that I was able to translate at the time, but am
not able to recall. But he does inform Ran to start untying the others.
As he passes by Nakamori, the policeman tries to jump the thief,
acting like an angry dog, complete with growling and teeth. Kid stays a
safe distance away, asking if Ran would please untie him last. And then
he leaves.
As everyone settles down for dinner in the blimp, now safely
docked at the Suzuki Tower, Mitsuhiko mentions that he feels like
something`s missing.
He`s right, something is missing, but what?
Ah, the Professor knows. After all, what movie would be complete without Agasa-hakase`s famous quizzes?
Everyone groans, and Mitsuhiko mentions this wasn`t quite exactly what he was missing.
But it is what was missing from the movie.
The question is a bit harder, but something like, out of the three Shounen Tantei at the table, who saved the day?
I am really not sure how the answer went, but involved something like `hikousen` and `hikouki.`
Let`s save the puns for the subbed version.
Up on the top deck, Kid checks the Sky Lady, mourning that it`s
not what he`s looking for. Ran confronts him, using his name
`Shinichi,` and Kid freezes. After all, he had only used it as a
temporary excuse. He hadn`t thought she`d still be after him like that.
She asks him if he`s going to go away stealing again, and why does
he have to steal so much. There`s some more dialogue, and Ran says
she`s okay with him being a thief. She just doesn`t want Shinichi to
leave again. And the scene starts to get very lovey-dovey as she gets
real close to him and makes it clear she wants a kiss.
Kid has a mini-panic attack and blushes. Then goes `oh, why the hell not` and leans down to kiss her.
The scene pans away from the couple sillhouetted in the moonlight.
And the credits run.
And there`s me, trying for all I`m worth to not stand up and go `WHAT THE HELL`
Five minutes worth of credits.
And then we pan back to the couple sillhouetted in the moonlight.
With Kid leaning in, making a kissy-face, and Ran suddenly pushing
against his chest going `You`re not Shinichi.` Oh yes, that was a flat
statement, like she was sure of the fact.
Conan and Sonoko rush in, Conan freaking out because what the hell is that thief doing near his girl?
Kid asks how she knew, and the scene shows a small flashback of a
shot of Ran`s back...And her pinching Kid`s hand as he tried to grope
her. And maybe she said something about how Shinichi would never do
that, or maybe I`m putting words in her mouth.
Anyway, Kid makes some sort of statements on how he`s a thief of
all types, and kneels down to kiss Ran on the hand. And I`m pretty sure
he adds a line about a thief of hearts, but I`m not too sure.
Conan is livid, and just as it looks like he`s about to maul the
thief, Kid does his cheshire-cat grin and uses his grappling gun to get
safely out of harms way and fly away.
Sonoko runs up and there`s some girl talk and then they both notice that the Sky Lady is on Ran`s finger.
Conan is still worried that Kid did something, and asks Ran, who replies that nothing happened at all.
The End.
And the 15th movie is already in production, but there was no
teaser image in the theater. Guess we`ll have to wait for the dvd
release for the teaser.
